14 Days of Love Notes

Valentine’s Day is filled with great traditions; sugary conversation hearts, boxes of chocolate, red roses, and my of my personal favorite, exchanging valentines. I mean who doesn’t love getting sweet notes of encouragement, affirmation and love. Especially when they are heart-shaped. That is why I started this simple Valentine’s Day countdown tradition for my family. For 14 days, starting February 1st and ending on Valentine’s Day, I give my husband and each of my kiddos a Valentine-gram. Every morning, I tape a simple heart-shaped note filled with affirmation, praise, or a few sweet words of love to their bathroom mirror. These hearts are the first words they see in the morning and the last before going to bed. This is such a fun, easy and impactful way to tell your family how much you love them. Today, I am sharing the simple tips and tricks I use to make these 14 days of love notes.

Suggested Supplies

Writing the Messages

Try to be as specific as possible with these love notes. Each heart should be special and unique to that person. If you need some inspiration, here are some prompts that I use.

  • I love you because….
  • You inspire me to…..
  • I love it when you…..
  • You are so good at……
  • I admire that you……
  • You make me laugh when……..
  • I love watching you…..
  • You are special because…….
  • I love listening to you…….
  • You make me happy when……
  • You are such a great……
  • My favorite memory of you is……

While it may be tempting to wait and write a new message each day, I advise writing all the notes ahead of time. Make a few extra hearts if you do come up with a new or better message during those two weeks to replace one of the pre-made ones.

Delivering Your Love Notes

Starting February 1, surprise your loved one with their first note. For my family, I tape them on their bathroom mirror but anywhere will work. The coffeemaker, the shower door, their iPad. Basically, put these notes any place they go to each morning and are guaranteed to see it.

Be sure to set an alarm on your phone, either before you go to bed or before your loved ones wake up in the morning, to sneak the note. I know I get tired and busy and without an alarm reminder, I would definitely forget to set out a heart or two.
