Apple Cider Spritz

Meet My New Favorite Fall Cocktail: the Apple Cider Spritz

It’s no secret that warm summer weather and icy cool cocktails are the perfect match. But what’s a girl to drink when the seasons change and cooler weather is on the horizon? Time to create an autumnal cocktail that has the refreshing taste of a summertime libation but also a hint of fall warmth and coziness. I took the trendy and oh-so delicious summertime Aperol Spritz and mixed it up with some apple cider and VOILA! The Apple Cider Spritz was born.

So what exactly is Aperol? Aperol is an Italian apertif liquor; meaning it is meant to be enjoyed before meals (I seriously need to move to Italy). It is a vibrant orange color and has a citrusy orange flavor as well. The classic Aperol Spritz is a mixture of Aperol, Prosecco (the Italian version of champagne), a splash of soda, and orange peel garnish. I love prosecco so that ingredient was not being altered for this fall cocktail recipe. But instead of soda, I substituted fresh apple cider and added a few apple slices for flare.
