Get Your Front Doors Ready for Fall with This Simple DIY Fall Wreath.
Summer is over and the leaves in my neighborhood are beginning to change color. With the taste of fall in the air, now is a great time for me to take down our summer wreaths and make new seasonal ones for my front doors. For the record, I refuse to buy wreaths retail. They are so expensive and I can never find ones that fit my taste and style. Equipped with a couple of wreath inspiration ideas from Pinterest, I visited my local Michaels and was blown away by all the beautiful fall florals in the store. With so many gorgeous colors, textures, and patterns to choose from, I knew I could create a wreath that was Pinterest-worthy. I made this DIY burlap and pumpkin fall wreath for under $18. They were simple to assemble and I feel they perfectly capture the essence of fall.
What You Will Need:
- 18” Grapevine Wreath
- Small Decor Pumpkins
- Heather Floral Stem
- Burlap Roll
- Floral Picks (these are so great for attaching the pumpkins and gourds)
- Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Scisssors
- Glue Gun
How to Assemble the DIY Burlap and Pumpkin Fall Wreath:
Using the wire cutters, remove the flowers and leaves from the Heather Floral Stem.
First, decide where to place the heather flowers and leaves. Next, wrap a 4 inch piece of floral wire around the bottom part of a leaf or flower stem.
Position the stem on the desired place on the wreath. Push the floral wire through the grapevine so it is poking out the back of the wreath.
Secure the loose wire by wrapping it tightly around a twig on the underside of the wreath. Use the wire cutters to trim off any excess wire. Continue to wrap, thread, and secure the remaining flowers and leaves to the wreath with this process.
Place a pumpkin on the wreath. Carefully push the floral pick through the back side of the wreath and into the pumpkin. Try to get the pick as deep inside the pumpkin as possible without fully piercing through it. The wire end of the pick should be hanging out the back of the wreath.
As with the heather flowers and leaves, secure the loose end of the pick wire by wrapping it tightly around a twig on the underside of the wreath and cut the loose ends with the wire cutter. Repeat this process with each pumpkin.
How To Make the Burlap Bow
Cut a 30 inch long strip of burlap. Loop the burlap through the top of the wreath. With the hot glue gun, glue the edges of the burlap strip together to make a “circle”. Let the glue dry.
Cut a 24 inch long strip of burlap. Loop this strip through the top of the burlap “circle” and tie in a tight bow. Trim the edges of the bow ribbon to look like a triangle.
