Forget the Wine Bag: 4 Luxe Ways to Gift a Bottle of Wine for the Holidays

Tis’ the season of parties and soirées.  One of the best gifts to bring to a party, holiday or otherwise, is a yummy bottle of wine for the hosts.  There are so many amazing affordable wines available, finding the perfect bottle to gift is no longer a problem.  (Use this guide for delicious wine suggestions that cost less than $20 a bottle.)   But, wrapping a wine bottle is tricky; it has an awkward size, shape, weight, and of course is easily breakable.  Wine bags are always an option but they are impersonal, boring, and most are horridly ugly.  So, ditch that bland wine bag and use one of these 4 unique ways to gift a bottle of wine With A Touch of Luxe this holiday season.

Halloween

Materials

  • full size white tissue paper sheet
  • white ribbon
  • black gift tag
  • white marker (I used a chalkboard marker)
  • black Sharpie

Instructions

  1. Lay the tissue paper sheet out flat and fold in half.
  2. Center the folded sheet over the top of the wine bottle and secure with the ribbon.
  3. With the black sharpie, draw a ghost’s face onto the tissue paper above ribbon.
  4. Write a cute message on the gift tag with the white marker.
  5. Secure the tag to the ribbon and wine bottle and cut off any extra ribbon ends.

Other cute Halloween message to write:

“Wicked and Wasted”, “Happy Hallo-wine”, “I’m here for the Boos!”, “Witches Brew”, “Hocus, Pocus, I Need Wine to Focus”

Thanksgiving

Materials

  • 3 fall colored leaves
  • googly eyes
  • red felt
  • orange felt
  • tacky glue or glue gun (the glue gun worked best attaching the supplies to the slippery wine label)

Instructions

  1. Glue the leaves together in a fan shape and attach to the back side of the wine bottle top.
  2. Cut out a diamond shape on the orange felt and fold in half to make the turkey beak.  Cut out a gobbler shape from the red felt.  Glue the orange felt beak onto the top of red felt gobbler.
  3. Glue the googly eyes to the front of the wine bottle top.
  4. Glue the gobbler and beak to the wine bottle just below the googly eyes.

Christmas

Materials

  • glitter or gemstone snowflake stickers (I found mine in the scrap book supply section at Hobby Lobby)
  • coordinating satin ribbon

Instructions

  1. Open the package of stickers and begin to arrange and stick them on to wine bottle.
  2. Cut off a 12 inch piece of ribbon and tie in a bow at the top of the wine bottle.

Anytime

Materials

  • kitchen towel
  • twine
  • decorative ribbon

Instructions

  1. Lay kitchen towel out flat, horizontally.  Position the wine bottle, horizontally as well, so the bottom of the bottle is in the center of the kitchen towel.
  2. Fold the kitchen towel in half so the wine bottle is completely covered.
  3. Fold the top right corner and bottom right corner in towards the bottle, making two small triangles.
  4. Fold the top edge down, wrapping the bottle.
  5. Repeat with the bottom edge.
  6. Stand bottle up and secure the towel at the neck of the bottle with twine.
  7. Turn the bottle around so the folds are facing the back.  Begin to fan the folded edges of the towel open and then tie a decorative ribbon around the neck of the bottle.

Your party hosts will love these thoughtful themed decorations as well as the delicious bottle of wine you bring.  Now that the party gifts are taken care of, it is time to figure out what to wear!
