A cute fall hat can instantly turn a bland outfit into a stunning fashion ensemble IF it’s the right fit. Learn what hat styles best flatter your face shape so you can rock this chic accessory this fall!
Hats are such a fabulous wardrobe accessory, especially in the fall!. At first, I was a little hesitant to start wearing hats. Maybe because it was new or different. Or not that many people wore them. But over the years, my “hat confidence” has grown and now I love finding new ways to style and wear them. Hats, just like sunglasses, come in many shapes, styles, and colors. And just like sunglasses, there are certain hat shapes, styles, and colors that are more flattering on certain face shapes. While there are many face shapes that don’t fit neatly into one category. most can be identified as circle, square, oval, heart, or diamond. In this blog post, I share tips to help you find the best fall hats for your face shape.
Circle
Circle face shapes usually are symmetric, have subtle cheekbones, and very few angles. The face is normally a shorter length and the cheekbones are the widest part of the face.
Find hats with angularity and tall crowns to balance the fullness of a round face. Hats with irregular brims are flattering because they contrast the symmetry of this face shape.

Square
No ones face is actually a true square shape. This term is referred to faces that have a pronounced square jawline. Usually this face is symmetric with striking cheekbones and very few curves.
Find hats that play down the angles and have smooth round shapes. Hats with wide brims, round crowns, and floppy or slouchy features offer a flattering contrast to the sharp jawline.

Oval
Oval, sometimes called long, face shapes are easy to recognize because they are longer than they are wide. The cheekbones are the widest part of the face and the jawline is curved with no sharp angles.
Almost any hat style will flatter an oval face shape. Try to stick to hats with short crowns because a tall crown will only add height to the already elongated shape. Wide brim and flared hats will add contrast to soft round features especially when worn across the middle of the forehead.

Heart
Heart shaped faces can sometimes look like a circle or square shape. The forehead and cheekbones are usually the widest part of the face with a slender angled jawline.
Hats with front-only brims look great with a heart shape because it doesn’t add width to the sides of the face. Hats with a prominent crown can also help balance the width of the face.

Diamond
Diamond face shapes are characterized by high wide cheekbones. Usually the chin and forehead are narrow which accentuate the diamond shape.
Hats with wide brims provide a nice contrast to the diamond shape. Styles that are wide, slouchy, and floppy also add width to the top of the forehead. Try wearing the hat so it sits on the back of the head to maintain proportions between the forehead and jawline.
