The Best Cut-Out Sugar Cookie Recipe
- 3/4 Cup Unsalted butter (Softened)
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Tsp Vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 Cups Flour
- 1 Tsp Baking powder
- 1 Tsp salt
- Mash butter and sugar with a fork until blended.
- Add eggs and vanilla to the butter and blend with a fork.
- Slowly stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix all together.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least one hour or up to one day.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Working in small batches, roll out dough onto a floured surface with a floured rolling pin until the dough is 1/4 inch thick. Dip cookie cutters in flour then use them to cut out shapes in the dough.
- Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes. Let them cool then transfer them to a wire rack.
**If you want colored cookies, add 2-3 drops of food coloring to the dough before refrigerating. Be sure the coloring is mixed thoroughly before wrapping it in plastic wrap.**
**Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to 1 week.**
