A look at my top 3 white shirts and why you need them in your closet too!
I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. It’s no secret that is my go-to outfit most days. If the weather is cool, I switch to a long sleeve version. Or layer my t-shirt with a sweater. And when it’s hot, I’ll trade the t-shirt out for a white tank or cami. There are three white tops hanging in my closet that are my wardrobe staples. I wear them year round and they go with so many outfits and occasions. A good white t-shirt (or top for that matter) is a fashion essential and not all are made the same. In this post, I share my favorite white tops for any season and how I like to style them.
The Plain White T
This t-shirt from Old Navy is probably the style I wear the most. I personally prefer the look of the crew neck, pocket detail and shorter cut to add some style and design flair to this basic shirt. And the prices and quality at Old Navy are hard to beat.
A close runner-up would be these two shirts from Madewell. They are usually in stock at Nordstrom Rack year round and are very affordable.
HOW TO STYLE: Honestly, this style top can be worn with anything and everything. I am a huge fan of the front tuck so I would wear it this way with denim, slacks, shorts, and skirts. Wear it under a blazer for an office friendly look or with a cropped jean jacket and leggings for a casual yet put together style. Style this tee fully tucked into a patterned midi skirt for a fun feminine look.
The Long Sleeve White Layer
Lightweight long sleeve tees and I are inseparable during the cooler months. I buy this shirt in a couple of different colors every Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to last me through the fall and winter. It is the perfect weight to wear alone and be warm on fall days. And it is not bulky under sweaters and coats when cold weather really hits.
HOW TO STYLE: This top is fitted so it can be worn both tucked or untucked. Though it is pretty enough to wear by its self, this top is a great first layer. Pair it with a large scarf or poncho and a coordinating fedora. Wear it under your favorite chunky sweater for added warmth. And this top is so soft, it is perfect for lazy lounging days.
The White Camisole
I featured this white camisole in a blog post I wrote a few years back as a fashion must have for a classic and chic wardrobe. And I still feel the same way. This one is fully lined and has adjustable straps. And the best part, it machine washable!
HOW TO STYLE: This camisole is sexy enough to be worn on its own for date night yet tame enough to wear under a blazer at the office. The material is a tad dressy so it adjusts from day to nighttime looks easily. I have worn this this top with everything from cutoffs to pleated skirts to leather pants.
