Light packing is an art. And like most artistic talent, some of us are born with it and some of us have to learn it. My family and I are traveling to Miami next Monday. Like most of the world, it has been awhile since I have been on a plane to go on vacation. So it’s definitely time to dust off my packing skills and curate a suitcase that is lightweight and full of outfit options. This is where mastering a vacation capsule wardrobe is key. In this post, I share a handful of basic pieces (aka a capsule wardrobe) that can be mixed, matched, and rotated into a multitude of vacation ready outfits!

As much as it may be tempting to pack a pair of shoes for every outfit, don’t!!! Remember, versatility is key so choose shoes that are exactly that. I chose tennis shoes, flat sandals, and a pair of block heeled sandals that would pair well with each look.
A large hat makes both a style impact and keeps the sun off your face. So it is a win-win packing item. I prefer to travel with inexpensive sunglasses. That way if they get lost, broken, scratched, or carried off by a rogue wave, its not a problem.
Lastly, is choosing a handbag(s). Currently, I am loving the fashion and functionality of these Shorty Love bags. Water-resistant durable nylon and a fun and funky style, these bags are a great travel companion. The large Wonder bag doubles as a carry-on, has tons of storage and can be worn as a crossbody, shoulder bag, or top handle carry. Creating a vacation capsule wardrobe for your next trip can be so beneficial; it makes getting dressed so much easier and your luggage is so much lighter. This little bit of pre-planning will help you have less stress, more great outfits to choose from, and hopefully a more enjoyable vacation.
