Unicorn Treat Cup Tutorial

Materials

  • artificial flowers (3 per cup)
  • gold glitter foam paper
  • pink foam paper
  • white felt
  • black sharpie
  • 3 3×5 note cards or card stock
  • plastic cups with lids
  • hot glue gun

Instructions

  1. Using the note cards or card stock, draw a template of the unicorn horn, the outer ear, and the inner ear.  Cut out your template.
  2. Trace the horn template onto the gold foam board, the outer ear onto the white felt, and the inner ear onto the pink foam board.  Cut out your tracings.
  3. Apply a thin line of glue to the back side of the cut out pink inner ear piece.  Glue it to the front side of your white felt outer ear.  Repeat with each ear piece and let dry.
  4. Apply a thin line of hot glue to the bottom back edge of your gold foam horn.  Attach it to the bottom rim of one cup lid.  Repeat with the remaining horns and cup lids and let dry.
  5. Take one finished ear, and apply a thin line of hot glue to the bottom back edge.  Attach it to the cup lid, slightly overlapping one edge of the unicorn horn.  Repeat with a second ear on the other side of the horn.  Repeat the process with all the ears and cup lids.  Let dry.
  6. Apply a small dab of glue onto the back of one artificial flower and glue onto the bottom edge of the horn.  Glue the two outer flowers first, then attach the center flower.  Repeat with the remaining flowers and lids.  Let dry.
  7. With a black sharpie, draw the eyelashes onto each cup.
  8. Fill cups with treats and secure the lids on top.

These cups can easily be filled with a variety of other goodies besides cotton candy. Fresh fruit, marshmallows, or other rainbow colored candy would also be great fillers.  And it does not have to be limited to food.  Small trinkets like plastic necklaces or rings, stickers, and temporary tattoos would also look pretty inside these cups.

I hope you have as much fun making these as I did.
