I am a room mom for my son’s 4th grade class and his teacher’s birthday was coming up soon. Normally classroom birthday celebrations include candy, cupcakes, or cake but this teacher is very health conscious and dislikes all types of junk food. So what kind of cake do you make a person who doesn’t like sweets? My son said his teacher drank a La Croix water everyday so I set out to make a cake out of these sparkling water cans. Here is the step by step on how I made this La Croix Can cake.

Instructions

Arrange the La Croix cans in 3 circles to look like layers of a birthday cake.

Measure the can circles then cut out the cardboard cake circles to match each can layer. There should be one cardboard circle for each layer of the cake.

Using the hot glue gun, adhere the largest cardboard circle to the center of the pizza pan.

Trace the bottom of a La Croix can with hot glue and stick it to the cardboard circle. Repeat the process with the remaining bottom layer of cans. Take the medium sized cardboard circle and hot glue it to the top of your bottom layer. Once dry, begin gluing the second layer of cans to the middle cardboard circle. Repeat the process with the smallest top layer. Your can cake should look something like this:

I ended up making smaller circles and using less cans than I originally thought,

Now it is time to attach the decorator ribbon. Place a thin line of hot glue along the edge of the ribbon. Adhere it to one can on the bottom layer. Begin to slowly wrap the ribbon around this layer, securing the ribbon with a small dot of glue on each can. When the ribbon has gone all the way around, cut it, then secure the loose end to the starting can. Repeat this process with each layer.

I used the remainder of my ribbon to make a large bow for the cake topper. I used this tutorial to make the bow and then glued the bow to the top layer of my cake.

This La Croix can cake took less than 15 minutes to assemble. My son’s teacher loved it, as did the rest of the class. This project is easy to customize by using different beverage cans; soda, beer, energy drinks, kombucha, White Claw. The possibilities are endless. And the best part about this cake is that there’s no baking involved!!! I hope you enjoyed this project, let me know if you are going to make it in the comments below.
