A quick, easy, and affordable way to update your front porch for Spring with these pieces from Target
I absolutely love the time of year when the weather warms up and we get to enjoy the beautiful outdoor spaces of our home. My front door and porch are the first things people see when they visit and boy, was it in need of an update. All the decor was over 3 three years old and extremely weathered, faded and borderline falling apart. Definitely not the clean, fresh and inviting look I was going for. Target just released their 2022 Patio & Garden Decor Collection and I fell in love with so many pieces. Clean lines, fun colors, beautiful greenery, all design styles I love and at super affordable prices. In this blog post, I share how I did a front porch refresh on a budget using only items from Target.
A Welcoming Welcome Mat
Living in the South, where there’s rain, mud, and the ever famous (and ever staining) red dirt, a front door mat is a must. But you don’t have to sacrifice style for function when choosing a doormat. I like this simple black script that greets all my visitors with a warm welcome. And the natural coir fibers are great for scraping mud and dirt off of shoes. This mat also has PVC backing so it stays in place.
Luxe Layers
Layering a welcome mat on top of a larger outdoor rug is a simple way to luxe up your front door entryway. This is also a fun spot to add a color or pattern pop so let your inner stylist wants fly. I’m partial to stripes and black and white so I chose this 4’ x 6’ rug to put under our welcome mat. Outdoor rugs are affordable and can be switched out for different seasons, holidays and when your taste changes. Plus, when this outdoor rug gets dirty, just hose it down with water and it’s good as new.
Let There Be Light
Good lighting immeadiately makes a space feel homey and warm. I love the ambience of lanterns and candles but leaving real candles lit outdoors is not the brightest idea. Enter in these battery operated timer set candles. They have long-lasting LED lightbulbs and my candles are set to ”burn” from 6pm-10pm every night. This candle and lantern decor combo would also look beautiful on outdoor dining tables.
Thrill, Fill, & Spill
The mantra of all beautiful container gardens; thrill (a focal plant either in height or color), fill (low growing plants that fill the space of the pot), & spill (plants that spill over the edges of the pot). Container gardens are one of my favorite outdoor accent decor items. I usually change mine out seasonally and love the fun colors, textures, and aromas each one brings. This particular 3 plant arrangement of rosemary, ornamental mustard, and ornamental kale can last through all 4 seasons. For more seasonal container gardens check out this post and this one.
A Little Bit of Greenery
A pretty front door wreath can be a beautiful statement piece. In years past, I have made my own but these realistic-looking faux eucalyptus wreaths really captured my fancy. Simple, elegant, and a gorgeous shade of green, these exact wreaths are currently sold out. But I did find a few other similar styles that would make the same design impact on your front door.
- Top Left – 20” Faux Seeded Eucalyptus, $34.99
- Top Right – 20” Preserved Olive Leaf Plant Wreath, $44.99
- Bottom Left – 24” Faux Skimmia & Perlia Wreath, $34.99
- Bottom Right – 18” Asymmetrical Faux Fern Wire Wreath, $14.99
