Hats are such a fun and fashionable accessory. They instantly glam up any outfit and can be extremely flattering to their wearer. But storing hats, (especially those with wide brims) can be tricky. I used to keep my hats haphazardly piled atop one another in a box at the top of my closet. I would forget about them (out of sight, out of mind, I guess) and rarely wear these trendy statement pieces. Then, I noticed some of my favorite fashion and home decor influencers were creating hat walls to store and display their hats. I knew this was a project I could easily do, so I tried it, and it was a SUCCESS!!
How To Make A DIY Hat Wall Display.
Buy hooks.
Command strips are my favorite home decor tool. They are inexpensive, reusable, and do not damage or leave holes in my walls. I use them to hang everything from pictures to Christmas decorations and everything in between.
I chose to use clear Command Strips for my DIY Hat Wall Display. This way, if I chose to wear one of my hats the empty hook would be virtually invisible.
Arrange the Hat Display
Lay the hats on the floor and begin to arrange them in the way they will be displayed on the wall. I chose to go with an asymmetrical “floating” look for my hats. Using the floor space in front of my designated hat wall, I shuffled my hats around according to size, shape, and color until I found the design and arrangement I liked best.
Start Hanging
To start, begin with the highest placed hat of the display and hold it up against the wall. Measure down the length of the hat brim and secure the command hook to where the center of the hat band (the part that touches the forehead) is placed. Hang the hat on the newly attached hook and begin the same placing and securing process with the rest of the hats.
