Switch out a boring glass vase for a bright and cheerful citrus fruit. This grapefruit vase centerpiece gives a fragrant color pop and is made with supplies probably already in your own home.
Citrus fruit makes me happy. Maybe it’s the fresh scent, bright colors, or yummy taste. Whatever it is, it makes me smile so I like to incorporate this cheerful fruit in my home as much as possible. This week I made a DIY Lime and Flower Arrangement. It turned out beautifully. My DIY juices were flowing and I wanted to find another project using citrus and cut flowers. Enter in the DIY Citrus Floral Centerpiece. This pretty little pop of grapefruit mixed with a few fresh blooms is such an easy project and makes for a pretty centerpiece, tablescape, place setting, or even a hostess gift.
DIY Citrus Floral Centerpiece Supplies
- 1 large citrus fruit (I used a pink grapefruit)
- floral foam cone
- knife and cutting board
- fresh cut flowers and greenery
How to Make
Cut approximately 1 inch off the top of the grapefruit.
Remove the inside of the grapefruit with a sharp knife or spoon. Try to get out as much of the fruit out as possible.
Cut the floral foam to size. It should nestle snuggly inside the grapefruit.
Cut the flower stems extremely short, 1-2 inches. Poke a hole in the foam (I used a wooden bbq skewer) for where you want the flower to go. Insert the flower in the hole. Repeat this process until the flowers are arranged to your liking.
