What if getting dressed started with something you designed yourself?
There are moments in life where you do something just for you. And they hit a little differently. This was one of those moments. When Two Girls and a Hat showed up at my front door, I had no idea I was about to spend the afternoon feeling like a full-on fashion designer…in my own dining room. And honestly, it was even better than I imagined.
A Hat Bar…But Make It In-Home and Personal

Jeni and Malynda arrived with what I can only describe as a dream setup. My dining room quickly transformed into a full custom hat bar lined with hats in every shape, color and texture you could think of. We’re talking: wide brims, flat brims, curved brims, tall crowns, teardrop crowns, diamond crowns, low profiles….plus ribbons, bands, feathers, charms and embellishments of every kind. It was one of those moments where you don’t even know where to start but you’re having way too much fun to care.
Trying, Styling and Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone
One of my favorite parts? Getting to try on everything! Different colors. Different shapes. Styles I wouldn’t normally reach for. It felt like playing dress-up but way more elevated. And if you’re a mom, you know…we don’t always take the time to experiment with our style anymore. This was my permission slip to do exactly that.
Designing My Hat

After trying a little bit of everything, I landed on the prettiest chocolate suede hat with a tall teardrop crown and wide brim. Classic, a little bold and something I knew I’d reach for again and again. From there we built the details:
- a matching brown satin ribbon for a soft contrast
- a feather detail to tie it all together
- and then…the most special part
Jeni’s custom burned hand design!
We talked through ideas, styles I loved, and even what I didn’t love (which honestly helped just as much). I chose a feather-inspired design to be burned into the underside of the brim. Something subtle, meaningful and completely unique to me.
The Anticipation (and the Fun of the Process)

What made this experience even more special was how involved I felt the entire time. As my hat was being created, they kept me updated every step of the way. Sending progress photos, mock-ups, even hand-drawn sketches for my approval of what the final branding would look like. Let me just say, I have never been more excited about a hat in my life.
The Final Reveal

When I met back up with Malynda and she handed me my finished hat, beautifully wrapped by the way, I already knew it was going to be special. But opening it? I couldn’t help but smile. It was everything I had envisioned but somehow even better in person. The texture, the details, the custom branding; it all came together in a way that felt so me. Like my style, my voice, my personality, all in one piece.
More Than Just A Hat

This wasn’t just about creating a hat. It was about:
- taking time for myself
- tapping into my creativity
- trying something new
- and walking away with something completely one-of-a-kind
