Kimonos are an awesome summer fashion staple but it’s easy to get stuck in a rut and wear them the same way over and over again. Try one of these chic ways to refresh your kimono style.
Kimonos are here to stay. They are the perfect thing to wear on a summer day that is not too hot. Or on a spring day that is not too cold. The lightweight fabric provides sun protection, style, and in my opinion, they are just oh-so pretty. Kimonos can be a bit tricky to wear and I often see women styling them the same one or two ways. Kimonos are a beautiful top layer and can be worn with almost anything. In this post, I show you seven cute ways to style that kimono in your closet so you can get more use out of this fluttery and flirty fashion piece.
With A Jumpsuit
I am a huge fan of the jumpsuit. They are an instant outfit and always look so chic. Add a kimono to this already fashionable piece of clothing for an effortless and elegant style.
With Flare Leg Jeans
Kimonos have a lot of boho vibes so why not carry that look through the whole outfit. Pair your kimono with flare leg jeans and a tucked in cami for a sophisticated yet bohemian look.
With A Little Black Dress
We all have that favorite little black dress in our closet. Top yours with a kimono to refresh your LBD! I like to drape my kimono over my shoulders so it looks more like a shawl.
With A Graphic Tee
Sometimes mixing patterns and graphics is a fashion no-no but in this case, I think it is a big win! To pull this look off, make sure your kimono and tee have complimenting and/or similar colors.
With Cut-Offs
This is the most common way I see people wearing their kimonos. But it is such a cute look I completely understand why it is so popular. To make the outfit a bit more your own, try accessorizing it with some oversized sunnies, statement jewelry, tying a side or front knot in your tank, or trading out flat sandals with a chunky heeled espadrille or wedge shoe.
With Monochromatic Colors
Let your kimono be the star of your outfit. Wear a monochromatic top and bottom so the bright patterns and colors of your kimono can pop!
With A Bathing Suit
In my opinion, kimonos make the BEST swimsuit coverups. They give just enough coverage without being heavy or bulky. The material dries fast and they can easily be folded up in a beach bag or suitcase and not take up too much room. I like to put a small safety pin in mine so I have the option to loosely pin it closed when I wear it over my swimsuit.
