The anti-skinny jean trend is hitting hard in 2021. Learn how to style this vintage bell bottom look for Spring.
My denim collection is 99% skinnies (and I’m sure yours is too). I have jeans in different washes, levels of distressing, and varying waist heights but the majority of them are the tight-legged skinny cut. But there is one pair of jeans that have been hiding in the back of my closet. They haven’t seen the light of day for over a year: my high-waisted flare leg jeans. This vintage boot-cut bell bottom style is making a comeback this season and I am beyond excited for it. I adore the look of this bold silhouette. It adds and accentuates curves, lengthens legs, and is flattering on SO many body types. This wide leg jean makes a strong fashion statement and can be intimidating to wear. In this post, I share 6 chic ways to style flare leg jeans for Spring. Plus a couple of style tips and tricks to help you feel confident in your flares!
Flares + Floral Blouse + Nude Mules + Tan Clutch
Floral patterns and spring go hand in hand. Half tuck your blouse to show off the high-waist and accentuated curves on the flare leg jean.
Flares + Matching Denim Button Down + Large Belt
For the ultimate vintage throwback, consider this denim on denim look. Tucked in, this button down shirt gives the illusion of a 70’s jumpsuit, dare I say Charlie’s Angels? Pair it with a chunky belt to accentuate the waist line and curves.
If denim on denim is not your thing, this style would also look gorgeous with any color slim fit button down top.
Flares + Graphic Tee + Felt Hat
I love how this look mixes the modern trend of graphic tees and wide brim hats with the vintage feel of the flares. Be sure to keep that tee tucked in for the illusion of longer legs.
Flares + Bodysuit + Leather Moto Jacket
Moto style jackets pair great with these jeans. The jacket’s short length accentuates the pant leg flare. Pair this look with a body suit or a tucked in tank to keep the lines and silhouette clean.
Flares + Stripes
Is it just me, or do these flare leg jeans look a little nautical? Embrace the sea-faring look and wear a horizontal striped shirt for some pattern and contrast.
Flares + Bodysuit + Plaid Blazer
Plaid blazers are such a great wardrobe staple. They are versatile for home, office, date night, church, and more. The structure of this blazer compliments the wide leg line. Be sure to wear a plain or unembellished top underneath the coat so it isn’t fashion overkill.
Flare Jean Tips & Tricks:
- Do not tuck flare leg jeans into boots. Wear your boots on the inside of the pant leg
- Accentuate, don’t hide. Show off the tighter fitting hip and thigh area of these pants
- Length is key. Look for a hem length that is almost at the floor so you can wear these jeans with flats, heels, booties, or boots
- Accessorize. These pants look great with belts, scarves, necklaces, earrings, hats, and handbags. Just make sure to not wear all of them at once.
