4 Winter Skincare Ingredients You Need To Try

Unlock Your Best Winter Skin Yet with These Effective Cold Weather Ingredient Suggestions from My Esthetician.

This week I visited Nicola, my rock star estheticin at SkinSocial for a routine microneedling appointment. During my treatment we got on the subject of winter skin. Our conversation led to the conclusion that just as you adjust your wardrobe for the colder temperatures, your skincare routine should have some adjustments too. At the end of my appointment, Nicola gave me a list of 4 winter skincare ingredients that she considered cold weather beauty essentials. Today, I am sharing them with you along with shoppable products that contain these winter skincare ingredients.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol might be hard to say but this natural antioxidant, usually found in red wine, is a skincare superhero. Anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, brightening, hydrationg, the list goes on and on. Reseveratol is especially beneficial in the winter because it strengthens the skin barrier which protects skin from environmental factors and excess water loss. In laymens terms, less redness and irritation from dry weather and your skin will be more hydrated.

Be sure to apply resveratrol is at night. Studies show it is light-sensitive and can lose a majority of it’s potency when exposed to sunlight.

Peptides

Peptides are the building blocks of proteins. This includes collagen and elastin, vital proteins for skin’s elasticity and firmness. In cold weather, your skin’s natural repair process may slow down. Peptide-infused skincare stimulates collagen production which helps repair cold-weather damage and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin C

Including vitamin C in your skincare routine during winter not only boosts radiance but also can combat dullness. It brightens the complexion and helps retain moisture. Plus it pairs well with resveratol so use these two together for brighter and more hydrated skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate

Sodium Hyaluronate, a key component of the super popular hyaluronic acid, also shares it’s many skin-boosting benefits. But the two differ because sodium hyaluronate is a smaller molecule which allows it to penetrate the skin’s top layer for deeper effectiveness. Instead of a hydrating product that sits on the surface of your skin, this ingredient will actually help moisturize and nourish at a deeper level. Literally.

As the temperatures drop, give your skin the extra TLC it needs to thrive. Incorporating these 4 winter skincare ingredients into your routine will help protect, nourish, and boost your complexion. Whether you’re dealing with dryness, dullness, or irritation, these ingredients have got you covered. Give your skin the gift of glow this winter – your beauty will thank you!
